ACUPUNCTURE

......a 5,000 year tradition of success.

In many Western cultures today, acupuncture is considered a new "alternative" or even "new age" medicine. In reality, acupuncture has an established track record that goes back well over 5,000 years.

At its most basic, acupuncture is the insertion of very fine needles on the body's surface, in order to influence physiological functioning of the body (i.e. enhance the body's inate ability to restore itself to full health).

Acupuncture can also be used in conjunction with heat produced by burning specific herbs. This is called moxibustion.

The first record of acupuncture is found in a 4,700 year old "Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine". This is said to be the oldest medical textbook in the world.

It is said to have been recorded from even earlier theories by Shen Nung, the father of Oriental Medicine. Shen Nun documented theories about circulation, pulse, and the heart over 4,000 years before Europen medicine had any concept of these functions.

Acupuncture is very successful in treating the following health problems:

  • Arthritis
  • Asthma
  • Back pain, Sciatica
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • Depression, Anxiety, I.B.S.
  • Drug, Alcohol, Nicotine Addictions
  • Headache / Migraine
  • Insommia
  • Neck / Shoulder Pain
  • PMS / Gynecological disorders / Infertility
  • Pre/Post Stroke Symptoms
  • Sports Injuries
  • Most Chronic Disorders

TAI CHI

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art based on Yin-Yang theory utilizing balance, harmony and flexibility. While other popular martial arts like Kung Fu and Taekwondo emphasize offence, Tai-Chi focuses more on Chi-Gong (breathig technique) and defense, which is the foundation for most oriental martial arts.

TUI NA

Acupressure is applying pressure to acupoints on the body. Tui Na (or Tuina, pronounced "twee-nah"), on the other hand, utilizes many different massage strokes that are applied to acupoints, channels and muscle groups.

The importance of Tui Na is that when it is performed correctly and with the right intention, it s the physical expression of the flow of Qi energy from one human being to another. The strokes and techniques stimulate an exchange of Qi energy between the practioner and the patient, and this is the secret behind the healing power of Tui Na.

Herbology

Herbal Medicine is the natural partner to acupuncture. Many internal dis-eases or chronic conditions can benefit greatly from the use of oriental herbal therapies.

Herbal Nutrition

In Eastern medical tradition (and increasingly in the West) food is considered a form of medicinal herbs that we take three times a day. Being aware of what we eat can help maintain internal balance and prevent the onset of disease.
